ahh summer. Increased light and warmth has brought forward a will in me to try and paint with watercolors again. Also started a new sketchbook dedicated for animal sketchlings/studies. Here's some latest ones. I didn't want to spam you all with numerous sketchbook pages so dumped rest of them to my sketch blog therebebeasts.blogspot.fi/
I looked at all the sketches and watercolour studies you posted on your blog and they are simply amazing. I mean, there's sketches in this world, and there are proper sketches - yours being of the latter kind. I don't know what it is about them but they are just so good. They really manage to capture the animals you're portraying, regardless of what species or kind they are. Whenever I try to do sketches and studies like this they just seem to be lacking something. Like, sure, you see they resemble the animal they're supposed to be, but they just don't capture their being the way yours do (I know, that sounds really vague, but I honestly don't know how to say it any better). Do you have any particular tips or things you keep in mind while doing these studies? Or is it just a matter of doing loads and loads of them over the years?
Yay!!! More sketches!!!
Wonderful work as always! I always love seeing your art. I for one would never mind being 'spammed' with your art. That's what DeviantArt is for after all. That way I could put more of it in my Favorites here. Like the ones of the tapir and with the elephant would certainly go there.
Can never get the blank look birds have when I make them, but you did it really well.
Was this done in water colour? It's really skilled work.
I saw a few over on Facebook. Gorgeous avians.
What technique do you use? It's stunning! :3
